Opportunities Abound in a Self-Sufficient Community

I don't like to ask for help. If I could do everything by myself, I totally would, (just ask my partner). But, the astonishing work that we do in our ballroom community couldn't possibly be done by just one person. I'm constantly amazed and inspired by the incredible volunteers we have, and the wonderful work they produce. Yet here is so much more that we can accomplish. Sometimes it takes a very refined set of skills, and sometimes all it requires is simple manpower.

On March 5th and 6th, 2016, Dancers Studio will host Dance Fest for the third consecutive year. Dance Fest is a low-cost, beginner-friendly DanceSport competition where new competitors can see what DanceSport is all about. It takes place in a local, friendly environment, where spectators will be introduced to our beautiful and athletic spectator-sport. During these two days, there will be over twenty hours of ballroom dance activity, and while a lot of planning has already gone into the event, a huge amount of time and energy is required the day of the event itself. This may include anything from selling tickets at the door, to being sure competitors are well-hydrated and ready to dance. We are incredibly grateful for these volunteers' dedication, and we work hard to make sure they have ample time to dance and cheer for their ballroom friends throughout the weekend. If you think you would be interested in lending a hand, we'd love to hear from you. Email us at info@upartnerdance.com.

If you are more creative-minded, or need to work with a more flexible schedule, we are always looking for more help producing Sheer Dance. Both articles and photographs of interest to the ballroom dance community are always welcome. You can write on a topic of your choice, or just let us know that you are interested, and we've got plenty of ideas to help you craft your author's debut. (Maybe even get you free front row seats to some great local events!) If social dancing is more your thing, we are looking for a Community Liaison to keep us up to date on Twin Cities Dance Events and Contacts, and Competition Results from our community; both locally and around the country. Have more ideas of how you could add value to Sheer Dance that we haven't thought of? Let us know what you're interested in by emailing us at info@sheerdance.com.

I hope that you enjoy the product of our many volunteers' hard work and are as grateful for their contributions as I am. Thank you for reading, and I hope to work with you as we build our community together.
