Volunteer Report
By Taylor Wall
In this month's issue of Sheer Dance, you will see a number of photos and articles reflecting on last year's Dance Fest and looking forward to this year's event. Dance Fest is a low-cost, beginner-friendly dancesport competition where:
- Dancers and spectators alike can enjoy an atmosphere of friendliness, camaraderie, and fun unlike any competition in the Midwest.
- New competitors can see all that dancesport has to offer in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere without breaking the bank.
- Experienced competitors can compete against some of the nation's best dancers in all styles and levels.
- All competitors and spectators can sharpen their skills with free seminars held throughout the event.
At this year's event, held March 4th and 5th at Union Depot in St. Paul, the insightful seminars will include American Viennese Waltz with Jeff Nehrbass, International Latin Rumba with Elena Bersten, Line and Extension with Mariusz Olszewski, International Standard Tango with Lisa Vogel Galvin, and Ballroom Hair and Makeup with Jana Rose Arts.
Perhaps even more excitingly, this year's Dance Fest will award over $15,000 in scholarships, awarded in general amateur competition, as well as in mixed proficiency events, the exciting, Saturday evening Team Match competitions, and fun Jack and Jill and Strictly events not normally offered at ballroom competitions.
We hope that you are looking forward to Dance Fest as much as we are and come back next month for more fun photos and articles! If you would like to make sure that your best shot gets included, or would like to write about how much fun you had, please send your content to submissions@sheerdance.com!
